Restoring electric service:
When your power goes off, our goal is to restore your electric service as quickly and safely as possible. Our personnel are highly trained professionals using the latest technology to keep the power flowing. Our employees work long hours during power outages and are able to add extra manpower in the event of a widespread, extended outage. Co-ops have agreements in place for mutual aid, even from other electric co-ops outside NC, in times of crisis so manpower and materials can be transferred rapidly when needed.

Repairs are made in a specific order, based on the goal of restoring service to as many people as quickly as possible. At the top of the list are members on life support, rest homes, fire departments, etc., who are given 1st priority during the restoration. We then work to repair lines which will return service to the largest number of members with each repair. Substations are repaired first, then main feeder lines, then tap lines, with individual damages repaired last.

Extended outages:
We can't predict Mother Nature and the catastrophes she may bring our way. Therefore, we recommend you be prepared for extended power outages. Keep flashlights and portable radios on hand with a supply of extra batteries. Have candles, kerosene lamps, and heaters available should you need them - but please exercise caution when using them. Food in freezers and refrigerators will keep for several days if you keep the door closed.
